Who he hell is Bill Jones and why am I looking at his site?
Bill Jones is an extraordinary writer, editor and (humble) photographer from the Chicago area who for years has steeped himself in entertainment, journalism and creative writing. You are here because if the saying about television that there are “hundreds of channels and nothing to watch” is true, then the internet is an infinitely greater wasteland and you’re looking for something good to read. If you’re interested in playing video games, watching movies, reading books and comics, and eating good food, and then, of course, discussing such things, you might find a good read on such topics here.
History + Mission Statement
Bill Jones Ink is the evolution of years of writing. It is an experiment in scaling back to grow. It is similar to the idea of pruning shrubs so that they can blossom and become more magnificent than ever…or something.
Its creator, Bill Jones, launched gaming and comics columns for AMP Magazine in 2007 after a few years of writing music interviews and reviews for the rag. In 2009, with the help of some close friends, he launched Pads & Panels, a website dedicated to the coverage of gaming and comics.
But as its writers found themselves busier and busier, the coverage was admittedly inconsistent, and Jones looked for a way to scale things back and find a more personalized way of presenting the coverage. But he didn’t want to completely abandon working with his friends.
So Bill Jones Ink was launched with the purpose of providing the highest quality entertainment coverage, honed through traditional journalistic skills with an eye for new media, on a site shaped by his tastes and vision. At the same time, it is designed to be a platform for other talented writers to gain exposure by bringing their unique talents to the forefront. It also allows Jones use his experience as an editor to the put the right stories in the right hands in an effort to provide better – not simply more – coverage.
In his not-so-spare time, Jones serves as the assistant managing editor for 22nd Century Media. He has also freelanced for the likes A.V. Club Chicago, USA Network and Maxim.
Great! So what the hell is this guy into anyways?
