This gentleman reached out to me to let me know he was going to be on Penn and Teller: Fool Us on The CW, and then he shared his story with me. Pretty fascinating guy, and it was cool to watch his segment on TV. Happy I got to write about him. To check it out, click here. (Subscription)
When it comes to what separates most magicians, Orland Park’s Glenn Morphew has a simple theory.
“I think some guys are creators, and some guys are not,” he said. “The guys who are good creators are not performers.”
But Morphew may be the exception to his own rule. He loves to create, and he loves to perform. And while the past five years have seen him creating and teaching more than taking the stage, they also did nothing to stop Morphew from seizing the opportunity of a lifetime when Penn & Teller came calling.
Morphew, 60, appeared Aug. 24 on The CW show “Fool Us,” after flying out to Las Vegas to attempt to fool the hosts with his best trick in front of a packed crowd at their namesake theater inside the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino.
As with his tricks, there is a story to go with the sleight of hand.
